Finding Your Fit: What College Volleyball Rosters Can Tell You

Not sure where to begin your college volleyball search? Use our College Volleyball Coach Directory to find programs by state and division, then visit each school’s volleyball website and explore its roster. Look at players in your position—their height, year in school, biographies, and playing background. Watch match footage when available to get a better sense of the team’s pace and level of play. For players and parents, this research can help turn a long list of schools into a more focused group of programs worth exploring.
As you compare programs, remember that height is only one piece of the picture. Your skills, athleticism, volleyball IQ, academics, and potential for growth all matter. Divisions have overlapping talent levels, so a roster can provide clues, but it can’t tell you exactly where you belong. Use what you learn to start conversations with your club or high school coach, then introduce yourself to college coaches with a short email and highlight video. The goal is to find a program where you can contribute, develop, and feel comfortable both on the court and in the classroom.
